The safety and well-being of seniors living independently or in assisted living facilities without direct or constant supervision can be the cause of ceaseless preoccupation or worry for family or professional caregivers. MainStreet MD, with the benefit of quick, plug-and-play installation, has designed affordable digital audio/video solutions that can provide caregivers with freedom from constant worry, and seniors with an environment of greater independence. One needn’t be an IT professional to have a MainStreet MD CareCam system up and running in as little as fifteen minutes.

Concerned that your elderly parent or client has gotten to bed safely and remained sleeping? That they’ve remembered to turn the burner off on the stove after fixing themselves breakfast? Or closed and locked the back door before leaving home to visit the neighbor? The MainStreet MD CareCam and CareCam Professional can provide caregivers with this very particular and precious peace of mind.

How it Works

The MainStreet MD CareCam employs Ethernet-over-power to transmit video signals through the electrical system of the premises. There are no costly expenditures on, nor additional, coaxial cables to run. One can have six cameras online, per modem adapter, through MainStreet MD’s Single Channel Gateway. The video, both recorded and live, maybe accessed locally or remotely on a PC, Mac, smartphone, or cell phone. The interface to the camera deploys pan-and-tilt technology, which allows the family or professional caregiver to remotely change the cameras’ point of view to allow maximum coverage.

The MainStreet MD CareCam, like CareCam Professional, utilizes innovative motion detection software that permits the family or professional caregiver to create up to five accounts where designated members of the “buddy” or support system can receive email notifications if an event has occurred that requires their immediate attention. Should the camera detect movement that signals an accident, caregivers receive an email alert notification.

The MainStreet MD CareCam streams live digital video and audio over the Internet, using a local high-speed Internet access point. However, it does not require a local a local Internet Video Recorder (IVR) at the senior’s residence. Rather, a maximum of 150-minutes of video and audio are stored in seventeen-second increments on a safe, secure HIPPA compliant file server, which is maintained by a leading data security firm.

For the MainStreet MD CareCam Professional, the video and audio are stored on a local Internet Video Recorder (IVR) at the senior’s residence. Each camera is also equipped with a built-in microphone, which thus allows for live, two-way communication. The IVR can record up the 30-days of video footage and does not require additional servers or affect the speed of a local area network, since no additional bandwidth is required. It can utilize any type of high-speed Internet access such as a cable modem from Cox, Time Warner or Comcast. Video footage can be accessed locally or remotely; it can be catalogued, edited to create clips, time-stamped, downloaded to a PC and transmitted over secure HIPPA compliant Web Mail.
