How CareTracker Works

The MainStreet MD CareTracker uses GSM and GPS technology to enable our customers or designated “Buddies” to manage their account and track the location of the device carrier using our proprietary website, www.MainStreetCareTracker.com. In addition to the tracking function, your MainStreet MD CareTracker is equipped with an SOS/Panic button, allowing the user to summon help when in an emergency situation.

Emergency assistance

When a user presses the SOS button in a serviceable area, the following actions will occur:

Summon help

  • The user presses and holds the SOS button for at least 3 seconds
  • An alert message is sent via text an email to designated buddies and to the 24/7/365 MainStreet MD Emergency Response Center

Personal response

  • An Emergency Care Specialist at the Emergency Response Center will attempt to contact the device carrier and/or designated Buddies to assess the situation
  • If the Emergency Care Specialist is unable to reach the user and buddy or determines that an emergency situation has occurred they will:
    • Access the device users profile
    • Track their current location

Emergency response

  • The Emergency Care Specialist will contact Emergency Services in the users area and dispatch First Responders to the location for help
  • The will stay on the line, using real-time tracking to update Emergency Services as to the users location

Buddy communication

  • Emergency Care Specialists will follow-up with the designated buddies to update them on the device users situation

Online location tracking

In order to manage and track your device, you will need to log in to www.MainStreetCareTracker.com with the same username and password you used for your new account with MainStreet MD. If you ordered your device online, this username and password would have been established when you registered for an account. If you purchased your device over the phone, you would have established this with the Care Specialist at the time of your order.

Operating your CareTracker

Once charged, press and hold the power button (1) until the right LED (4) flashes red. The unit is now active and will begin to report locations automatically. The right LED (4) will indicate network and GPS status as detailed in the table.

GPS accuracy of your CareTracker

Accuracy is influenced by the number of GPS satellites within range. Greatest accuracy will be under open sky. In most indoor locations, a fix can be determined to within 1500 feet. A fix may not be possible in heavily shielded buildings.

SOS function button

The function button (2) can be used to place the unit into SOS reporting mode. Please refer to our user manual for additional details.

Acceptable use of your CareTracker

The CareTracker is water resistant. Provided the battery port is sealed, the device will function normally when exposed to external weather conditions. Do not, however, intentionally submerge the device.

Managing your device and tracking your CareTracker online

In order to manage your device and track the location of your CareTracker, you will need to open up a web browser and go to www.MainStreetCareTracker.com.

Once you are logged in to the CareTracker website, you will be able to manage a variety of functions.

Use the thumbnails on the left to view the live tracking function.

Alert history, map history and tracking history

The Alert History tab shows a history of all alerts for the device. This includes SOS alerts, low battery notices, and Safety Zone (Geo-fence) penetration notices. (You can set the history parameters in the settings section). The Map History tab shows a history of your locations on the map. (You can set the history parameters in the settings section). The Tracking History tab provides a text based history of your caretracker. (You can set the history parameters in the settings section)

Safety Zones/Geofences

The Safety Zones tab is the section of the site where you can set safety zones for your CareTracker. A safety zone is a perimeter that will cause the CareTracker to alert you and your buddy when you take it in and out of the safety zones. For example, you can set one at home and the CareTracker will let your buddy know whenever you leave or come back home.

Personal settings tab

This is the section where you set your contact information and your buddy’s cell phone number. You can also use this section to change your password and make other profile changes.
