An individual affected with autism frequently exhibits emotional outbursts, self-injurious or aggressive behaviors at home, which he or she may not exhibit in a clinical setting. In such cases, a clinician may desire the means to observe the individual in their home environment. MainStreet MD CareCam Professional can digitally record these at-home events for clinical review. The family or professional caregiver can capture and log footage of the behavior, creating a clip documenting the event, which can then be sent to the clinician electronically as a MP4 video file. The MP4 file can be stored and retrieved as an electronic medical record in a standard heath information system, such as E-Clinical, BI Capture, Google Health and Microsoft HealthVault.
MainStreet MD’s CareCam Professional solution also enables clinicians to observe and review the cases of autistic individuals residing in remote locations who may not have direct access to specialized care. This telemedical application provides clinicians with a means to extend their geographic reach and care for more individuals.
The safety and well-being of individuals affected with autism is a heightened concern for family caregivers. Employing the MainStreet MD CareCam at home, care providers can unobtrusively monitor the life of their child. Parents or other caregivers can watch, listen, and communicate with their child in real-time—while at a computer, on a cellular or smartphone. They can remotely pan and tilt the camera to gain access into the child’s activities, providing themselves’ freedom from worry and their child an environment of greater independence. Should the camera detect movement that signals an event or emotional outburst, caregivers receive an email alert notification.
MainStreet MD, with the benefit of quick, plug-and-play installation, designs affordable digital video solutions for the care and protection of individuals with autism and other developmental and sensory disorders. One needn’t be an IT professional to have the MainStreet MD CareCam systems up and running in as little as fifteen minutes.
The video, both recorded and live, maybe accessed locally or remotely on a PC, Mac, smartphone, or cell phone. The interface to the camera deploys pan-and-tilt technology, which allows the clinician, professional or parental caregiver to remotely change the cameras’ point of view to allow maximum coverage.
For the MainStreet MD CareCam Professional, the video and audio are stored on a local Internet Video Recorder (IVR) at the affected individual’s residence. Each camera is also equipped with a built-in microphone, which allows for live, two-way communication. The IVR can record up the 30-days of video footage and does not require additional servers or affect the speed of a local area network, since no additional bandwidth is required. It can utilize any type of high-speed Internet access, such as a cable modem from Cox, Time Warner or Comcast.
MainStreet MD CareCam Professional video footage can be accessed locally or remotely; it can be catalogued, edited to create clips, time-stamped, downloaded to a PC and transmitted over secure HIPPA compliant Web Mail.
The MainStreet MD CareCam, like CareCam Professional, streams live digital video and audio over the Internet, using a local high-speed Internet access point. However, it does not require a local IVR. Rather, a maximum of 150-minutes of video and audio are stored in seventeen-second increments on a safe, secure HIPPA compliant file server, which is maintained by a leading data security firm.
The MainStreet MD CareCam suite of products utilizes innovative motion detection software in its cameras. This feature permits the end-user clinician or caregiver to create up to five accounts where they can receive an email notification if an event has occurred that requires their immediate attention.
